I get so tired of how this business keeps forcing smiles when nobody means them. Half undressed already on nights like these I lie back and wait for the city outside Tai Po windows to quiet down after midnight. The air feels heavy and my skin cools where the fabric slipped off. Discretion is what makes an evening work for me because I never need anyone knowing what we choose behind closed doors. Sometimes I ask if we can pull in another person just to watch how we all shift and who relaxes first while the rest of the room holds its breath. Other times the game starts when I request a character for myself and then it hits that exact second when pretending drops away. Nobody has to keep the story going after that. The relief sits between us like low light and unfinished wine. My Dutch blood keeps me straightforward even when sleepy so I say what I want without dressing it up. Skinny frame under soft sheets means little barriers left by then. An evening here stretches slow until somebody finally stops acting. Late hours suit me because the world outside has already given up watching.

You remain in that hush after the mask slips and Tai Po night simply stops moving.
