Leaving a review

Open the listing concerned and use the review form on it. The form asks for a display name of your choosing, a rating from one to five, and the body of what you want to say. There is no account to create, no email address to hand over and no verification step — which keeps the barrier low deliberately, and is also the reason every submission is read before it appears.

What happens between submitting and appearing

A new review is held as pending and is visible to nobody. A moderator reads it and either approves it, in which case it appears on that listing with the name, rating and text as submitted, or does not. Submissions are rejected for the usual reasons — abuse, threats, another person's private details, a phone number or address, an advertisement, an obvious fabrication, text that is not about the listing it was left on. Nothing is published in edited form, so a review either appears as written or does not appear.

What an approved review is worth, and what it is not

It is one reader's account, checked for the things that would make publishing it wrong. Nobody verified that a meeting took place, that the description is accurate, or that the writer is not a competitor or a friend. A five-star history does not predict your own experience, and a single poor review does not condemn anybody. Ratings are worth reading in bulk and worth very little individually — treat them as one input alongside the listing's own details and the judgement calls set out in the safety notes .

What cannot be bought

Reviews are not an advertiser product. They cannot be commissioned, ordered in a batch, edited on request or deleted because an advertiser dislikes them. Disputing a review written about you

An advertiser who believes a review is fabricated, defamatory, written by a competitor or about the wrong listing can dispute it. Quote the review, say which listing it sits on, and say specifically what is wrong with it; a disputed review is re-read against the same standards and removed where the objection holds. Disagreeing with an honest assessment is not grounds. Use the channels on the page that routes each kind of message .

What a review makes public

Everything in the body, permanently and to everybody. A review is the wrong place for your own phone number, a meeting address, a real name — yours or anybody else's — or a detail that identifies a third party. The note on what a submission stores covers what is kept and how to ask for a change.
